'Oh dear': Mason Cox suffers hilarious basketball brain fade

Scott Pendlebury says Collingwood might have to remind Mason Cox how to handball properly after the American suffered a hilarious brain fade against Geelong.

Cox gave everyone a good laugh late in their clash on Sunday with an ill-advised decision to play on in an attempt to kick a goal.

The Magpies import took a mark near the goals late in the fourth quarter before he was run down by Geelong defender Harry Taylor after he tried to play on.

Cox was tackled over the goal line and bizarrely decided to throw the ball back into play basketball-style, rather than handballing.

"He plays on...he's gone, he's gone!" Brian Taylor said in commentary.

"When you're new to the game you probably need to park your feet and go for the set shot.

"He went with the old basketball pass!"

Luckily for Cox it didn't prove costly as the Pies dug deep to set up a 15.17 (107) to 11.12 (78) win with a six-goals-to-three third quarter.

The win eases pressure on coach Nathan Buckley and ended Geelong's unbeaten run.
