New Zealand vs Ireland LIVE stream and channel: How to watch World Cup quarter-final on TV and online for free

Ireland face the unenviable task of trying to halt New Zealand's latest Rugby World Cup charge when they meet the formidable All Blacks in the quarter-finals in Tokyo on Saturday.

Defeat to Japan meant that Joe Schmidt's side eventually finished as runners-up behind the hosts in Pool A and were unable to avoid a last-eight meeting with the reigning world champions.

Ireland have generally been inconsistent at the tournament so far, though did manage to dominate Samoa in their last outing despite the dismissal of Bundee Aki, who will miss the rest of the tournament (pending appeal) after being handed a three-week ban by World Rugby for his high tackle on UJ Seuteni.

They should take confidence from the fact that they have won two of their last three matches against New Zealand, though native Kiwi Schmidt will also be only too aware that stopping the southern hemisphere giants when they are in tournament-mode is a different challenge altogether.

The three-time champion All Blacks - looking to lift the Web Ellis Cup for the third tournament in a row - followed up their opening win over fellow heavyweights South Africa with easy demolitions of minnows Canada and Namibia and will be well rested after their final Pool B affair against Italy was cancelled due to Typhoon Hagibis.
