The 18-year-old undergraduate attended her Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority induction ceremony earlier this week in Atlanta, Georgia.
In a video obtained by Essence, she can be heard excitedly introducing herself as "Zahara Marley Jolie", notably not including her famous dad's last name.
The adopted daughter of former Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, joined the Mu Pi Chapter of the first historically Black sorority in the nation.
Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded in 1908, and the Mu Pi chapter was established in 1979.
She reportedly enrolled at Spellman in autumn 2022, with her actress mother, Jolie, seen by fellow parents on campus in August of that year.
The Oscar winner recently took to Instagram to share her pride in her daughter’s induction into the sorority.
“Zahara with her Spelman sisters!” she wrote alongside an image showing the beaming student with her collage friends.
“Congratulations to all new students starting this year,” she added. “A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl.”
Last year, Pitt told People that he thought it was “really beautiful” that Zahara would be attending Spellman College.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016 after 11 years together and two years of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences". They share six children together, three of whom are biological, the others they adopted together.
Since going their separate ways, there have been allegations of abuse, claims of forced NDAs and a revolving door of legal professionals.
It's little wonder therefore that Zahara's snub of Pitt didn't go unnoticed online.
“I wasn’t gonna say anything, but I definitely peeped that Zahara left Pitt off her last name,” wrote one person.
“She said Zahara Marley JOLIE. Put some respect on that name," remarked another.
