A young woman has had a lucky escape from major injuries after falling 30m down an embankment at a popular waterfall lookout.

Queensland Ambulance said a woman, aged in her 20s, had to be winched via helicopter in what they described as a “difficult extraction,” creating dangerous conditions for the chopper.

The woman was rescued and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with minor bruises and abrasions.
