Yoenis Cespedes: 2018 Mets are 'best team that I have been around'

"I've been so far on 14 different teams. And for me, this team, this year, is the best," Cespedes said.

Yoenis Cespedes is all in on the Mets.

During his Wednesday press conference after the team’s pre-opening day workout, the veteran outfielder expressed his confidence that 2018 will be the year for the Mets.

"I've been so far on 14 different teams," Cespedes said, via the New York Daily News. "And for me, this team, this year, is the best team that I've been around, so I'm really excited to go outside tomorrow with this team, all the fans. I think we have a (great) chance this year because this team is, for me, it's way better than the team we had in 2015, and we went to the World Series. I think we are ready to go."

When asked what specifically makes this seasons's Mets roster special, Cespedes couldn't land on a single position.

"Everything," Cespedes said. "The pitchers. The bullpen. The infield. The outfield. The hitters."

Cespedes, who was limited to 81 games last season after being shut down in August with a hamstring injury, made a number of personal sacrifices this offseason, including giving up golf, in an attempt to stay healthy. New Mets manager Mickey Callaway praised the Cuban native's effort and said he's "really proud" of the progress Cespedes has made.

"He's an unbelievably talented ballplayer," Callaway said. "I think that he, when he's on the field, can be an MVP-type player, and we're going to try to put him in the best place to be out on the field as often as possible, and I think that's his goal too.
