Liam Hemsworth Is Geralt Now, And Everything Else We Know About "The Witcher" Season 4

The Witcher just wrapped up its third season on Netflix and, in typical fashion, ended with a major cliffhanger.

If you found yourself asking, "Who the hell is Falka?!" among other things, you're in luck. The show has been renewed for a fourth season, so answers are coming.

Here's everything we know about Season 4 so far:

1.As was reported late last year, Henry Cavill has taken his final bow as Geralt of Rivia and won't be returning after Season 3.

This came as a blow to fans, who felt that Henry's deep love of the original novel and Witcher video game made him the perfect Geralt.

2.But the character will still very much be in the show, just in the hands of Liam Hemsworth moving forward.

3.Geralt's physical change will match his internal transformation.

Executive producer Tomek Baginski hinted at Geralt's evolution, saying, "[We] have a very, very good plan to introduce our new Geralt and our new vision for Geralt with Liam. Not going deeply into those ideas because this will be a huge spoiler, [but] it's also very, very close to the meta ideas which are deeply embedded in the books, especially in Book 5."

Season 3 saw Geralt struggle with maintaining his neutrality amid the growing threats to Ciri, and by the last episode, he seemed pretty determined to defend his family no matter the cost. Season 4 Geralt will probably abandon his neutrality altogether, which seems like a perfectly good time to introduce a new face to match that thematic transformation.

4.Anya Chalotra, Freya Allen, and Joey Batey will all be back as Yennefer, Ciri, and Jaskier, respectively.

5.Ciri will take center stage moving forward because she has become the main character of the whole story.

Season 3 was based largely on Time of Contempt — the Witcher book that sees Ciri emerge as the saga protagonist — and it's become clear on the show that as important as Geralt and Yen are, Ciri's journey is at the center of everything.

"One of the more important things about Ciri is that we will slowly discover that she is the main character of the Witcher saga. Not Geralt, not Yennefer. It's Ciri's story," Baginski confirmed in a behind-the-scenes video.

6.Season 4 will follow Ciri's time with the Rats while she goes by "Falka" and embraces the darker side of her powers.

"Falka" is the name of the woman Ciri hallucinated in the desert who told her to seek bloody revenge on her enemies. Falka herself was a dethroned princess with magical abilities (like Ciri) who led a rebellion to reclaim her crown but was defeated and burned at the stake.

So basically, it's not a greeeeat sign that Ciri is choosing to use Falka's name and embrace her philosophy moving forward. Geralt and Yennefer, come get your daughter!!

7.Don't expect to see our favorite witcher family back together for a while.

With Yen gathering the mages at Aretuza, and Ciri off with the Rats, Geralt is gonna have a lot of walking to do before they're reunited. Especially since he thinks Ciri is at Nilfgaard!

8.And finally, don't expect Season 4 till 2025 at the earliest.

The time between seasons has been around two years so far, and that's without considering any potential delays due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild–American Federation of Television and Radio Artists strikes. So we're in for another long wait.
