Winx triumphs in penultimate race, extends winning streak
Winx has won a record 32nd straight Group One race, extending her winning streak in her penultimate race.
Starting at $1.06, Winx proved once again too good for the field in the George Ryder Stakes in stylish fashion for her final race at Rosehill.
Hugh Bowman got Winx to within three lengths of the leader with 1000m left to run, and from there it was essentially over.
A trademark burst at the 200m mark solidified another dominant display from the mare.
Unstoppable. The mighty mare does it again.

Trainer Chris Waller said Winx was simply a special horse.
“Was a differently sort of run race, we popped popped out four wide,” he said.
“Every other jockey, you’d tell not to be three wide, but with Winx you have to.
“It was a good fight, but the last 200m she just bounds away.
“She’s a very special horse, I’m sure she knows. Just a marvellous horse to work with, marvellous to have her in.
“We’ve had messages from time to time (to go overseas), but I think she’s brought the world closer to Australian racing.”
Huge reaction
With emotions running high after it was announced Winx would retire after the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Fans of the famous horse were once again in fanfare after the massive result.
