'Oh my heavens above': Russian skier in massive crash

Russian skier crashes into fencing in 'spectacular fall'

Russian athlete Pavel Trikhichev has crashed hard early in the men's alpine combined downhill in PyeongChang on Tuesday afternoon.

Windy conditions postponed the event from its original date, but the gusts continued to cause problems throughout the early days of the Games.

Trikhichev, competing under the Olympic Athletes from Russia flag, was the third person to head down the course when disaster struck.

And the 25-year-old paid the price for a slight mistake when he crashed down the hill and into the netting, at one point looking more like a ragdoll.

"He's got his line totally wrong," said the commentator.

"Oh my heavens above. Hopefully he is ok but that is a spectacular fall."

Trikhichev remarkably walked off the course -- after fixing himself from the fence.

Officials repaired the netting before the next skier resumed proceedings.
