Wikstrom sets early pace at Gant Open

Home favourite Ursula Wikstrom has shot an opening-round 66 to take an early lead at the Gant Open in Finland.

The 41-year-old triumphed in the Ladies European Tour event in 2017, which remains her solitary professional win.

She now has a chance of another after grabbing a two-shot lead but it could have been more were it not for two bogeys during her last four holes in a five-under-par score.

Magdalena Simmermacher of Argentina and India's Tvesa Malik, who clinched the Tipsport Czech Open last month, are joint second after rounds of 68.

Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand - who won the recent Czech Ladies Open title - is in sight of the leaders, tied for fourth with three others.

Six Finnish players are currently in the top 10 with five tied for ninth.

Fresh from success at the Aramco Team Series individual event, Norway's Marianne Skarpnord is part of the nine-strong group in ninth after shooting par in Turku.
