The offending action? Anderson flipped the bird. The incident occurred during the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday at Progressive Field.
Anderson wasn't having his best day. The White Sox All-Star committed three errors in the 11-1 White Sox loss. Someone in the stands apparently had words for him amid his struggles. Anderson responded in kind with his middle finger.
He just so happened to be featured in a TV graphic comparing him to Pete Rose at the time. He delivered his single-finger salute just as an NBC Sports Chicago camera focused on him during his pre-inning routine in the field.

Anderson was slated to serve his suspension on Friday against the Minnesota Twins. According to MLB, he appealed the ban and was allowed to play pending the appeal's outcome. The basis for his appeal wasn't clear. Thanks to NBC Sports Chicago, it's gonna be a hard sell to convince MLB that he actually didn't flip off a fan.
Good luck with that one, Tim.
