West Ham best-case scenario and potential nightmare draw revealed ahead of Europa League draw
West Ham are eying another European run after last season’s memorable success in Prague.
The Hammers went all the way in the Europa Conference League and their reward is a place in this season’s Europa League, a competition they reached the semi-finals of in 2022.
David Moyes’ side are in Pot 1 for Friday’s draw, meaning they cannot be drawn against the likes of Roma, Ajax, and Villarreal.
Sporting CP and Olympiacos are among the potentially tricky opponents in Pot 2, while trips to Sheriff Tiraspol and Maccabi Haifa will not be particularly wanted by Moyes.
Rakow Czestochowa and Aris Limassol are among the minnows in Pot 4, where there appears to be little to trouble West Ham.
Who could West Ham face in the Europa League group stage?
Pot 2: Sporting CP, Slavia Prague, Rennes, Olympiacos, Real Betis, LASK, Marseille, Qarabag
Pot 3: Molde, Brighton, Sheriff Tiraspol, Union SG, Freiburg, Sparta Prague, Maccabi Haifa, Sturm Graz
Pot 4: Toulouse, AEK Athens, Hacken, TSC, Servette, Panathinaikos, Rakow Czestochowa, Aris Limassol
Best-case scenario: LASK, Maccabi Haifa, Hacken
Worse-case scenario Sporting CP, Sheriff Tiraspol, Panathinaikos
When is the Europa League draw?
The Europa League draw takes place at 12pm BST on Friday, September 1.
