'We weren't quite where we needed to be'
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, speaking to TNT Sports: "Not our best performance today, I thought right from the start we weren't quite where we needed to be. In saying that, we were right in the game and Joelinton's chance is probably the moment for us where we were either going to get back in or we didn't and unfortunately it didn't happen."
On it feeling like one game too far: "It probably looked like that in our performance, it certainly didn't feel like that in our preparation, but we probably didn't have the energy we had on Saturday. A little bit flat in our performance, but it wasn't for the want of trying, the players were executing what they could but it wasn't quite there."
On the players not holding anything back: "There never is from the group, they're such an honest group of players, they have attacked every game that we have asked them to. They've given a lot tonight again so it's a disappointing defeat, I think if we were at our best I still believe we could have won tonight so [it is] frustrating on our side."
