Welsh Premiership player banned for four years
A Welsh Premiership rugby player has been banned for four years after the presence of a prohibited substance was discovered.
A test found the presence of ostarine, a selective androgen receptor modulator which is designed to have similar effects to testosterone.
UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) notified the player of the discovery, but he alleged that the substance was in his system due to a contaminated supplement.
The player also disputed the four-year suspension, so the case was referred to the National Anti-Doping Panel who upheld the ban as no proof of a contaminated supplement could be found.
The suspension began on a provisional basis in August 2023, and will expire in August 2027.
