Richmond’s Nick Vlaustin is facing a lengthy stint on the sidelines after elbowing Luke Parker in the face.
The Tigers defender was wrapped up by Parker in the remains of a tackle when he suddenly reacted.
Vlaustin quickly elbowed the Swans player, but the impulsive act was seen by the umpire and caught on camera.
“It’s terribly reckless,” said the 7 commentators.
“It could do so much damage to the boy there, you’ve got to be so careful.”
The rogue elbow immediately caused a negative response on social media.

Franklin gets 1-2, but Vlaustin’s elbow gets referred straight to the tribunal and an outcome of 4 weeks. The game does not need crap like that #AfLTigersSwans

After the final whistle, Vlaustin responded by calling it nothing more than a “love tap”.
"Bit of a love tap…hopefully it doesn't get looked at."
