Vitoria Guimaraes eager to retain Zungu's services

Media reports coming out of Portugal suggest that Bafana Bafana international Bongani Zungu could remain at Vitoria Guimaraes despite attracting interest from several clubs across Europe.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a stellar second half of the Portuguese campaign following a long injury layoff, and his performances saw him help Guimaraes qualify for next season's Uefa Europa League.

Nonetheless, amidst growing interest, Zungu has returned for pre-season ahead of the 2017/2018 campaign.

He still has year left on his current contract with Guimaraes, and with reported interest from several European clubs which include Portuguese giants Benfica and Porto, as well as Tottenham Hotspur and English Championship club Sheffield Wednesday, his employers are keen to tie him down to a long-term deal.

Although, Guimaraes don’t want to part ways with the former Mamelodi Sundowns star, if he is to leave, Benfica are believed to be favourites to land his signature.
