Victory over Leipzig sends Dortmund top of Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund have defeated RB Leipzig 2-1 to claim their 10th win in as many games this year and go top in the Bundesliga for at least a day.

Captain Marco Reus converted a 21st-minute penalty, Emre Can hit the second in the 39th but the hosts had to sweat it out after Emil Forsberg pulled one back for Leipzig in the 74th.

Dortmund eventually prevailed in another statement of intent in the title race with 10-time reigning champions Bayern Munich.

Their 10 wins since the restart in January include eight in the Bundesliga, which according to Kicker sports magazine equals a club record set under Juergen Klopp in 2011-12, the last season they lifted the league trophy.

Dortmund moved three points clear but Bayern will be first again on goal difference if they win at lowly VfB Stuttgart on Saturday.

Leipzig had beaten Dortmund in their previous three games but are now seven points off the top in fourth after defeat at the former club of their coach Marco Rose.
