Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev gained the respect of both fans after a close to five-hour five-set thriller at the US Open but a hilarious clip of PK Subban stopping fiance Lindsey Vonn cheering for the Russian had fans in stitches.
Nadal thwarted an extraordinary Daniil Medvedev comeback to win the US Open final - the 19th major of his career - but both men won the respect of the fans including Vonn.
‘JUST AWFUL’: Fans rage over ‘disgusting’ moment in US Open final
Medvedev may have been booed throughout the tournament - which gained the ire of many fans watching the fickle Flushing Meadows crowd - but he left the US Open with the respect of the world.
This included American champion alpine skier Lindsay Vonn who couldn’t believe the amazing shots the Russian was pulling off after levelling the score after he was two-sets down.
But as Vonn applauded the Russian’s superb fight back, Canadian ice hockey star and fiance Subban grabbed her hands in support of Nadal.
The moment had fans laughing on social media because Vonn was just trying to applaud the game.
