Umpire ejects 5 in Jake Arrieta's Phillies debut

The Phillies had two more players ejected than runs scored through 8 innings Thursday.

Baseball players have to get into the flow of the action before the start of the season, but umpires have to get their rhythm back too.

Tom Hallion was the home plate umpire for Thursday's spring training game between the Tigers and the Phillies. He found a way to tally five ejections in the game.

Phillies manager Gabe Kapler, bench coach Rob Thompson and pitchers Parker Frazier and Pedro Beato were all thrown out before the ninth inning.

To top it all off Tigers pitcher Matt Boyd was thrown out in the fifth inning as well.

All of this overshadowed Jake Arrieta's Phillies debut where he gave up two runs in two innings and was saddled with the loss.

The Tigers won the game 6-2.
