Ulster beaten by Exeter in pre-season finale
Ulster brought their pre-season preparations to a close with a 31-15 defeat to Exeter in Sandy Park.
In a friendly against opposition they will meet in the coming season's Champions Cup, the northern province travelled without the majority of their Irish international contingent who toured South Africa this summer.

Head coach Richie Murphy did have new signings Aidan Morgan and Werner Kok available, with the latter making his first appearance for the side as a second-half replacement.
The visitors fell behind when, after a turnover at the line-out in their own 22, Exeter's Harvey Skinner went over from close range.
Winger Aaron Sexton responded by scoring off triallist Zac Ward's pass, although Nathan Doak's missed conversion ensured Exeter remained in front at half-time.
England international Immanuel Feyi-Waboso grabbed the first points after the interval with his converted try edging the hosts further ahead.
Scores from Rory Telfer and John Andrew saw Ulster take their first lead of the game with 25 minutes remaining, but Exeter would finish with 17 unanswered points.
Will Haydon-Wood, Olly Woodburn and Irish lock Jack Dunne all crossed in the game's final 15 minutes to give their side the win.
Ulster begin their 2024-25 URC season at home to Glasgow on 21 September.
