Fight fans have been left in a state of disbelief after Damon Jackson overcame one of the nastiest cuts in recent history to defeat Charles Rosa at UFC Fight Night 194.

Jackson used his grappling prowess to dominate the opening two rounds in Las Vegas, before he was rocked by a savage strike in the third round.

Rosa came out swinging with a brutal spinning elbow that struck the right side of Jackson’s face.

The devastating blow caused a nasty cut to open up around the 33-year-old's eye, with blood proceeding to pour out of the wound as he battled on.

Blood continued to stream out of the American's eye like a tap, turning the canvas into a bloodbath.

After a brief check from the cage-side doctor, Jackson was allowed to continue fighting, despite the bloody scenes unfolding around him.

The American went toe-to-toe with Rosa for the remainder of the fight and managed to see out a unanimous victory after the judges scored the contest 29-28, 29-27, and 30-27.

Speaking after the win, Jackson remarked about the strike from his opponent that caused the bloody mess.

“I didn’t really feel it. It didn’t hurt, but when I looked down I saw like, ‘It’s really pouring out,'” Jackson said during a post-fight interview. 

“I felt like I was in control. I was hoping to hold him down a little better and get some more ground and pound. I wasn’t quite sure how the judges would see it.”

Viewers react to gruesome incident

The horrific scenes left commentator and viewers stunned, as the fight world reacted to the bloody carnage.

UFC lightweight fighter Paul Felder said in commentary: “You can smell the blood from here. My God.”

Fellow commentator Jon Anik took a deep breath before adding: “I love it. LOVE IT.”

The gruesome scenes left viewers in a frenzy on social media, with many describing it as one of the most brutal cuts they've seen.
