Two aces in one hole: Amateur golfer's crazy feat

A amateur golfer has produced one of the rarest achievements in the sport, not once, but three times.

British golfer Ali Gibb unbelievably hit three holes-in-one during a 36-hole round, including an incredible repeat of the feat on the fifth hole.

Ms Gibb said she was absolutely chuffed with the result, yet also surprised given her inconsistent form throughout the day.

“Today was just a weird day. It was just very, very strange,” she told the BBC.

“On my card I had a nine, two eights, sixes, fives, fours, threes, twos and three ones.

“Our pro Adam came up to me and said: ‘I’ve had one hole in one in 42 years, you’ve just had three in five hours’.”

The Croham Hurst Golf Club member produced the goods during the Ladies Club Championships in Croydon.

According to club pro Adam Aram, Ms Gibb was rewarded with three bottles of champagne for hitting the three aces – and created quite a stir amongst the members.

“I said to her, ‘What have you been drinking at lunch time, you can’t have three holes in one on the same day — two’s enough’,” Mr Aram told CNN Sport.

“I think after the second win, she was too excited to concentrate and then she had a third — I don’t think she could quite work out what was happening. Neither of us could.”

Ms Gibb was so shocked she said it could have all been a dream, but she can be reassured of the amazing accomplishment every time she looks at the scorecard, which she kept.
