Triantis 'really enjoyed Gray's honesty and vision'

Nectarios Triantis believes he can "flourish" in a holding midfield role at Easter Road after re-joining the Edinburgh club on deadline day.

The Australian completed a season-long loan deal from Sunderland, becoming Hibernian's 10th signing of the window.

Despite initially being deployed as a centre-back under former boss Nick Montgomery last season, new head coach David Gray quickly pushed Triantis forward into Hibs' midfield during his spell as caretaker.

"I really enjoyed his honesty, in terms of where he sees me, and his vision of me as a player," the 21-year-old said. "It aligned with my thoughts and helped me make my decision quickly.

"Having that backing from the manager and him giving the freedom to play in that position is the best thing about it. I think I can flourish in that position this year."

"You could see towards the end of last season, I really excelled when I was playing as a six. I think I can do that again this season."
