Conor Gallagher was attracting interest from Spurs but that move is off the table, though Tottenham have at least signed Brennan Johnson for £45million.

Greenwood joins Getafe on loan
23:09 , Matt Verri
LaLiga club Getafe have signed Mason Greenwood on loan from Manchester United.
The former England striker is set for a return to football 18 months after being suspended by United amid allegations of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.
The Crown Prosecutive Service ended its own case in February of this year following the “withdrawal of key witnesses”, and United confirmed it would conduct its own investigation.
Last month, the Premier League club revealed that Greenwood’s future would lie away from Old Trafford despite a statement outlining their belief that the 21-year-old “did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged”.
The player has Madrid-based side Getafe until the end of the season on loan. He still has two years left to run on his United contract.
A United statement on the move read: “The move enables Greenwood to begin to rebuild his career away from Manchester United.
“The club will continue to offer its support to Mason and his family during this period of transition.”

Spurs seal £45m deal
23:05 , Matt Verri
Tottenham have signed Brennan Johnson on transfer deadline day after agreeing a £45million deal with Nottingham Forest.
The Wales international, who travelled down from Forest’s training ground to London for a medical on Friday, becomes the seventh signing of the Ange Postecoglou era at Spurs.
Tottenham had been locked in talks with Forest over the forward, after interest from Chelsea waned following their capture of Cole Palmer from Manchester City. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis led discussions and an agreement was reached on deadline day.

Sarr made to wait
22:44 , Matt Verri
Chelsea defender Malang Sarr hasn’t found a move away before transfer deadline day, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
The 24-year-old has struggled to find a move due to his £100,000-a-week wages and difficult loan spells at Monaco and Porto.
Sarr can still move to any of Turkey, Belgium, Czech Republic, Greece, Switzerland and Saudi Arabia where transfer windows remain open beyond the 11pm deadline tonight.
Lyon move for Moreira
22:40 , Matt Verri
Chelsea winger Diego Moreira has joined Lyon on a season-long loan deal, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
The 19-year-old made his Chelsea debut in the 2-1 win over AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday but joins the French giants in a surprise move.
Mauricio Pochettino had a good look at Moreira during his pre-season tour of the United States but has decided the youngster is better off gaining experience elsewhere after his free transfer move from Benfica.
Moreira takes up the final international loan spot meaning new signing Deivid Washington, who joined in a £17million deal from Santos last week, will likely stay.
The 18-year-old striker was expected to join Chelsea’s partner club RC Strasbourg.
Big boost for Man United
22:36 , Matt Verri
Manchester United have bolstered their midfield with the addition of Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
United confirmed the deal for the 27-year-old late on transfer deadline day, which is thought to be an initial loan from Fiorentina with an option to buy.
Erik ten Hag had long identified Amrabat – who he managed between 2015 and 2017 at Dutch club Utrecht – as a priority midfield target, to add support and backup to Casemiro. The player was always keen on the move.
United sold Fred to Fenerbahce earlier in the summer, with Amrabat now joining Casemiro, Scott McTominay – who is expected to stay at the club amid interest from Fulham – and fellow summer signing Mason Mount in Ten Hag’s revamped midfield at Old Trafford.
With the deal having been completed after midday on deadline day, Amrabat will not be available for United’s weekend Premier League clash at Arsenal.

Gravenberch shirt number explained
22:01 , Matt Verri
Ryan Gravenberch’s Liverpool shirt number has been confirmed after he completed a £34million transfer from Bayern Munich.
Ajax academy graduate Gravenberch will don the No38 shirt an Anfield.
Traditional midfield options No14, No15 and No16 were also up for grabs and there was a big gap between No22 and No 31 - last worn by Raheem Sterling - that only Andy Robertson occupies at No26.
However, a sentimental option was also there for Gravenberch. He wore the No38 shirt during his early days in the Ajax first-team and took that number at Bayern too, with his more regular Ajax No8 not available at either Munich or Anfield.
Lloris considers Nice move
21:53 , Matt Verri
Nice have offered Hugo Lloris a contract, with the Frenchman considering his options.
Kasper Schmeichel’s contract at the Ligue 1 side was terminated earlier today, and they are now eyeing the Spurs goalkeeper as a replacement.
The move would be a free transfer as Spurs are keen on securing a move for Lloris - one to watch!
West Ham unable to reach Edwards deal
21:49 , Matt Verri
Ronnie Edwards will remain at Peterborough United for another few months after West Ham were unable agree a fee, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
The 20-year-old stays at the League One club having also had an offer from Swansea City in the Championship.
Done deal!
21:45 , Matt Verri
Liverpool have completed the transfer deadline day acquisition of Ryan Gravenberch.
The Dutch midfielder joins from Bayern Munich for a reported fee of £34.2million, a year after joining the German giants for £15m from Ajax.
There had been late fears that Bayern would pull the plug on the deal after their bid for Fulham’s Joao Palhinha collapsed, with the Portuguese star eyed as Gravenberch’s replacement.
Alas, Liverpool were still able to complete the deal after the 21-year-old completed a medical on Friday afternoon.

Monaco fail to match Adarabioyo valuation
21:42 , Matt Verri
Tosin Adarabioyo is set to remain at Fulham despite Monaco’s interest in a deadline day deal, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
Fulham rejected an £8million bid last week and demanded £13m, but the Ligue 1 club didn’t make a suitable offer.
Johnson completes medical at Spurs
21:39 , Matt Verri
Brennan Johnson has now completed his Tottenham medical.
That’s according to Sky Sports, with his £45m move from Nottingham Forest now on the verge of being made official.
Spurs are finally set to get their man.
Chelsea outgoings unlikely
21:31 , Matt Verri
Trevoh Chalobah is expected to remain at Stamford Bridge despite links to Tottenham, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
Chelsea are set to remain as, despite Spurs’ approach for Conor Gallagher and Burnley having a bid accepted for Ian Maatsen.
Marc Cucurella was also available on deadline day but didn’t attract any known offers.
No West Ham move for Ekitike
21:26 , Matt Verri
Some reports out of France that West Ham submitted something of a Hail Mary offer for Hugo Ekitike late in the day are being denied by the club, writes Malik Ouzia.
They say things never advanced beyond talks today. Either way, the Hammers won’t be signing the forward tonight.
Done deal!

Palace move on from Guaita
21:18 , Matt Verri
Crystal Palace have terminated Vicente Guaita’s contract to allow him to join Celta Vigo on a free transfer, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
The 36-year-old goalkeeper has spent five years in south London but leaves after falling out with manager Roy Hodgson.
Sam Johnstone will remain the club’s No1 option and Dean Henderson has been brought in from Manchester United as competition.
Guaita returns to his native Spain where he will play under former Liverpool and Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez.
He leaves after 154 games for Palace, during some of the best years in the club’s recent history.
Lloris will not join Newcastle
21:14 , Matt Verri
There are conflicting reports emerging from Tottenham and Newcastle over the Magpies’ reported interest in Hugo Lloris, writes Dan Kilpatrick.
Spurs believe the Frenchman has turned down a loan offer from St. James’ Park but sources at Newcastle insist the stories are wide of the mark.
Either way, Lloris will not be moving to the north east but there is some hope at Spurs that his hometown club Nice may make an eleventh-hour move after releasing their own veteran goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel.
Spurs could decide to cancel the final year of Lloris’ contract but, with just under two hours of the window to go, that is very much considered a last resort.
Sanchez unlikely to get Spurs exit
21:08 , Matt Verri
Davinson Sanchez is another player expected to remain at Tottenham after the deadline, writes Dan Kilpatrick.
As it stands, he is with the squad in Burnley preparing for tomorrow’s match after interest from French club Rennes and PSV Eindhoven apparently came to nothing.
Spurs are not giving up on offloading Tanguy Ndombele, although a move to a European club is now all but over.
The Saudi and Turkish remain open, which gives Spurs hope of shifting the Frenchman at a later date. Ndombele turned down interest from Galatasaray and Fenerbahce earlier this month but it remains to be seen if he will have a change of heart once all other options are exhausted.
Forest to sign Omobamidele
21:04 , Matt Verri
Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement with Norwich for Andrew Omobamidele.
Trevoh Chalobah was on Forest’s wishlist as they look to strengthen at the back, but the Chelsea defender is yet to be convinced about the move and so they have looked elsewhere.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Norwich have accepted their approach for Omobamidele, with a medical to take place imminently.
Sorensen secures Midtjylland move
20:57 , Matt Verri
Mads Bech Sorensen has left Brentford to join Danish side Midtjylland on a four-year permanent deal, writes Dom Smith.
He was looking for more game time this season after only ever being a squad player for the Bees.
Barcelona set to seal Cancelo signing
20:53 , Matt Verri
Arsenal were linked with a shock move for Joao Cancelo earlier today, but that feint hope is now over.
Sky Sports report that Barcelona are expecting to complete a loan move for the Man City full-back, with no obligation to make it permanent next summer.
Arsenal hold out Pepe hope
20:48 , Matt Verri
Arsenal are not expected to offload Nicolas Pepe or Cedric tonight.
The Gunners remain keen on selling the duo, who are not in Mikel Arteta’s plans, but that will not happen before the 11pm deadline.
Football.London claim that the club still have hope of selling Pepe though, with Saudi Arabian clubs having until September 7 before their window shuts.
Lloris to Newcastle?
20:38 , Matt Verri
Newcastle have made a surprise move for Hugo Lloris late in the day.
The Spurs goalkeeper has been looking for a move all summer, but the club have so far been unable to find a buyer.
That could change now though, with The Times reporting that Newcastle have approached Spurs to discuss the possibility of a season-long loan deal for Lloris.
Spurs turn to Chalobah
20:31 , Matt Verri
Well then...
Tottenham have reportedly approached Chelsea over a possible loan deal for Trevoh Chalobah.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, with it claimed that contact has been made but the rivalry between the clubs will make an agreement difficult to reach.
Nottingham Forest meanwhile remain keen on a permanent move for Chalobah, but the player is not convinced about that move.
Dan Kilpatrick on Hojbjerg situation
20:26 , Matt Verri
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg turned down interest from Fulham and Spurs could not agree a deal with Atletico Madrid, who were exploring a last-minute loan move for the midfielder.
Spurs wanted to include an obligation to buy Hojbjerg, who has two years remaining on his contract, but Atleti could not come up with a suitable package.
Hojbjerg is now set to stay at Spurs, and is expected to return to the bench for Saturday’s Premier League game at Burnley.
Fulham set to keep hold of Reed
20:19 , Matt Verri
Harrison Reed is looking likely to stay at Fulham after Wolves had a bid rejected and further talks today proved unable to find an agreement, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
Everton have also shown an interest in the midfielder, who could renew terms at Craven Cottage after the transfer window closes.
He has entered the final 12 months of his current deal, which expires next summer.
Amrabat announcement imminent
20:13 , Matt Verri
Sofyan Amrabat has completed his Manchester United medical.
That’s according to Sky Sports, with it reported that the checks, which took place earlier today in Italy, are now done.
An official announcement is expected soon, with United paying Fiorentina an £8m loan fee with the option to make the deal permanent next summer.
Spurs moves off the cards
20:04 , Matt Verri
Tottenham will not be making late moves for Lloyd Kelly or Conor Gallagher, writes Dan Kilpatrick.
Spurs were interested in Chelsea midfielder Gallagher, but the fact Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will now remain at the club has hindered that deal.
Bournemouth centre-back Kelly was also linked with a deadline-day move, but the Cherries are reluctant to sell.
Wait goes on at Tottenham...
19:59 , Matt Verri
Brennan Johnson is currently doing his medical at Spurs, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
All the agreements are in place, so it is just about getting it over the line before the transfer deadline at 11pm.
Girona win Garcia race
19:54 , Matt Verri

Fabrizio Romano reports that Barcelona have agreed a season-long deal, with documents expected to be signed shortly.

19:44 , Matt Verri
Barcelona are expected to complete moves for Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix this evening.
Journalist Gerard Romero reports that the pair have met their new team-mates and both are expected to officially become Barcelona players in the next few hours.
It’s believed that the deals are both loan moves with no option to buy.

Good news for Luton...
19:27 , Matt Verri
Luton Town have agreed a season-long loan deal for Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
It’s unclear at this stage whether there is an option to buy for the 23-year-old, but he gives the newly-promoted Premier League minnows a boost on transfer deadline day.
Carragher questions Gravenberch deal
19:20 , Matt Verri
Liverpool are expected to announce the signing of Ryan Gravenberch later this evening, but Jamie Carragher is not convinced he will be the answer to their defensive midfield issues.
“It’s interesting where he is going to fit in because I don’t think he’s necessarily this defensive midfield player that I think Liverpool still need, even though they have brought a player in from Germany,” Carragher said.
“I think he’s more of a No 8, he’s box-to-box, he gets forward - and I think that’s why Bayern got rid of him, because Thomas Tuchel didn’t want to play him in that position.
“He’s a player Jurgen Klopp and the club wanted 12-18 months ago and I’m interested to see where he fits in and if Klopp thinks he’s going to be that defensive midfield player.”
Time up for Italian clubs!
19:07 , Matt Verri
The Italian transfer window has now shut.
That means Mason Greenwood will not be making a move to Serie A, despite Lazio’s attempts to sign him this evening.
Di Marzio reports that they were still pushing for the Manchester United forward into the final minutes of the window, but ran out of time.
Lokonga to make Luton move
18:59 , Matt Verri
Albert Sambi Lokonga has now agreed his season-long loan move to Luton.
The Mail report that the Arsenal midfielder has now completed the switch to the newly-promoted side, with Lokonga not in Mikel Arteta’s plans in north London.
The Belgian spent the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace, but was unable to make an impression.
PSG unhappy with Ekitike
18:55 , Matt Verri
PSG are reportedly angry with Hugo Ekitike, who they claim is trying to move to Crystal Palace behind their back.
The Eagles have made a loan offer for the striker, with a £26m option to buy next summer, though PSG preferred to sell him to Eintracht Frankfurt as they try and sign Randal Kolo Muani.
According to The Telegraph, PSG have not given Ekitike permission to speak to Palace and feel the forward’s agent has been trying to agree a deal without them. Palace want a loan, but PSG prefer a permanent sale.
Dier expected to stay at Spurs
18:46 , Matt Verri
Some more Tottenham news for you.
Eric Dier is set to stay at the club, with The Athletic reporting that he is now likely to leave on a free transfer next summer.
The centre-back was mentioned in talks with Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth, linked with Spurs’ interest in Brennan Johnson and Lloyd Kelly, but Dier wants a move abroad in 12 months’ time.
Hojbjerg and Gallagher doubts grow...
18:38 , Matt Verri
Doubts are beginning to grow about Tottenham’s interest in Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s potential move to Fulham or Atletico Madrid is looking less and less likely too, as the player has been unable to agree terms with either club.
Of course, all three players were in a transfer chain with Joao Palhinha who saw a £60million transfer to Bayern Munich collapse despite him flying to Germany to complete a medical.
Gallagher isn’t pushing for a move but Chelsea could be tempted to cash in at the right price.
Trevoh Chalobah is also very likely to stay at Chelsea after his loan move to Munich collapsed.
Carragher: Why have Al-Ittihad left it so long for Salah?
18:34 , Matt Verri
Jamie Carragher has questioned Al-Ittihad taking so long to make their move for Mohamed Salah, believing they have left themselves an impossible task on deadline day.
The Saudi side are believed to be prepared to go to £200m for Salah, but Liverpool continue to insist he is not for sale.
“For Liverpool to sell now, they’re not going to want what he’s worth,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“They’ll want well more than that. Is he worth £150m if there’s no Saudi Arabia situation at the moment? Of course he isn’t.
“Why have they left it so late? If they wanted him so badly, why wouldn’t they make this bid six weeks ago?”
Hudson-Odoi explains Forest move
18:25 , Matt Verri
“It’s massive for me to be here and I can’t wait to get started,” Callum Hudson-Odoi told Forest’s official website after being given the No14 shirt.
“It’s a new chapter for me. I know a couple of the boys already which was a big thing for me, and I obviously know the manager well, so it’s nice to be here and see familiar faces around.
“Forest are a big club which won two massive trophies in its history and I’m really excited to play at The City Ground. I know all about the atmosphere having watched a couple of times and I can’t wait to get playing in front of the Forest fans.”
Sanchez future up in the air
18:17 , Matt Verri
PSV Eindhoven remain hopeful of signing Davinson Sanchez in the final hours of the transfer window.
Voetbal International claim that the Dutch side have booked a medical for the centre-back, so they are ready in case an agreement can be reached with Tottenham.
It’s been suggested that Spurs are holding out for a fee in the region of £12m.
Johnson undergoes Spurs medical
18:11 , Matt Verri
Brennan Johnson is close to completing his move to Tottenham.
The forward is currently at Hotspur Way, undergoing a medical as he closes in on a £47.5million transfer from Nottingham Forest.
Official confirmation of that one to come later this evening...

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s move to Nottingham Forest is now done.

Dom Smith on Palhinha’s failed Bayern switch
17:56 , Dominic Booth
It is a major boost for Fulham that they have been able to hold on to Joao Palhinha. He flew to Munich today for his medical, but his move to Bayern always depended on Fulham finding a replacement.
There was interest in McTominay and an approach about Hojbjerg but no official bid for either player. Neither was convinced it was a move that suited them perfectly. Bayern pushed hard to get the Palhinha deal done, but Fulham rejected a “massive” bid and get to keep their man as a result.
What a boost. In a post-Mitrovic world, the Cottagers’ most important and best player by far.
Done deal: Evans to Man United
17:47 , Dominic Booth
It looks as if Manchester United are going to confirm four incomings on deadline day, with Jonny Evans’ free transfer now confirmed as he signs a one-year deal.
Bayindir and Reguilion are already through the door, with Sofyan Amrabat the missing piece of the puzzle.
Barcelona to beat Arsenal in Cancelo race
17:40 , Dominic Booth
Arsenal have reportedly explored a deadline day move for Joao Cancelo, but it seems he is Barca-bound.
Reports suggest the Manchester City full back only had one club in mind as his destination this summer. He’s expected to sign for Barcelona in a double deal with Joao Felix.
Done deal: Burstow to Sunderland on loan

Chelsea striker Mason Burstow had interest from both AC Milan, Werder Bremen and other clubs in Europe before accepting a move to Sunderland.
The 20-year-old was happy to move to the North East as he seeks homegrown status to improve his chances of making it at Stamford Bridge.
Burstow was signed from Charlton for £1.25million in January 2022 and is highly regarded by Mauricio Pochettino after excellent performances in training against his star-studded squad.

Gravenberch deal on course despite twist
17:31 , Dominic Booth
Reports suggest Liverpool’s move for Ryan Gravenberch should not be affected by Bayern’s failed Palhinha bid.
It’s said the Gravenberch deal is expected to go ahead as planned, to bolster Klopp’s midfield.
Saudi club to launch new Salah bid
17:25 , Dominic Booth
Al-Ittihad have shrugged off Jurgen Klopp’s warning by formulating a £200million bid for Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, according to reports.
The Mail say the Saudi Arabian club are willing to make the Egyptian winger the most expensive footballer in history - and won’t let up until their transfer window shuts next Thursday.
No Bayern move for Chalobah
17:21 , Dominic Booth
Another Bayern Munich move for a Premier League player that isn’t happening... Trevor Chalobah.
Chelsea can maybe use that international loan spot to get Deivid Washington to Strasbourg later tonight. It is clear that will only happen if it isn't used to get Chalobah or Marc Cucurella out. Just one of seven spots remaining after Ziyech and Lukaku's loans. https://t.co/epalKzJAeN

Palhinha to Bayern off
17:17 , Dominic Booth
Joao Palhinha’s move to Bayern Munich has collapsed, Nizaar Kinsella reports.
Disappointment for the player who was in Germany completing a medical before the German transfer window closed at 5pm, but it solves a lot of problems for Fulham. Their star remains.
Bergstom to leave on loan
17:13 , Dominic Booth
Chelsea goalkeeper Lucas Bergstom is expected to go out on loan but it may not be until after the Premier League transfer window closes, Nizaar Kinsella reports. He will likely join a club in one of the leagues which continues to do transfers beyond September 1. Eddie Beach will stay as the Under-21s goalkeeper.

Postecoglou message to Spurs fringe stars
17:03 , Dominic Booth
There’s been lots of talk that Spurs are keen to jettison players today, an issue Postecoglou addressed in his press conference today:
“No-one’s not been integrated, no-one hasn’t been training with the team. I’m not isolating anyone at the moment.
“Players have got their own reasons for making these decisions but ultimately, come the deadline, we’re going to have to name a 25-man list and we’ve got more than that at the moment, so some people are going to miss out. It’s up to them to decide the next step.
“From my perspective, we haven’t excluded anyone from training. The numbers in training are manageable right now and while they’re manageable I don’t see the need to do anything different.”

West Ham exits latest
16:50 , Dominic Booth
Still all quiet on the West Ham front at the moment, Malik Ouzia reports.
It won’t be too long before we start to get team news through from their game at Luton tonight, where any involvement at all for the likes of Maxwel Cornet and Pablo Fornals would, you assume, rule out the chance of a late exit.
Nizaar Kinsella reports
16:46 , Dominic Booth
Chelsea forward Louis Flower has joined Brighton in an academy team switch. He was a regular for the Under-18s last season and played for the Under-21s but, with Chelsea having strengthened their youth teams, has been allowed to leave for a nominal fee.

Dom Smith on Holding to Palace
16:21 , Dominic Booth
Crystal Palace’s imminent signing of Rob Holding feels like a sensible move from the Eagles. The £4million fee is certainly an affordable one, and Palace were in need of bolstering their options in central defence.
The performances over the last year of Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen were masking a need to add depth in central defence. Veteran James Tomkins is the only other central defender at the club.
When they were promoted back to the Premier League a decade ago, Palace had five experienced centre-backs in their ranks. Holding adds much-needed back-up.
Reguilon could make debut vs Arsenal
16:12 , Dominic Booth
Having been strongly linked with Marc Cucurella, it is Sergio Reguilon who makes the move to Manchester United on a season-long loan deal – and it’s likely he could be thrown straight in against Arsenal on Sunday.
This is what he told the United official website:
“In life you have to be ready for everything and the chance to represent this great club with such an illustrious history is one that I could not turn down.
“Having spoken to the manager, I know what he needs from me, and I am ready to play my part in helping the team to achieve success.”

Hojbjerg turning down moves
16:01 , Dominic Booth
According to widespread reports, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is set to reject a move to Atletico Madrid from Tottenham. As Standard Sport reported earlier, he does not want to be Joao Palhinha’s replacement at Fulham either. It may leave the Danish international in limbo at Spurs, having been on the periphery of Ange Postecoglou’s plans so far.
Done deal: Tanganga loan exit
15:52 , Dominic Booth

Bayern and Forest explore Chalobah deals
15:39 , Dominic Booth
Time is running out for Trevor Chalobah to join Bayern Munich, amid a loan proposal from Thomas Tuchel’s side. The German champions may instead look to explore a deal for Armel Bella-Kotchap. The Bundesliga window closes at 5pm UK time.
Nottingham Forest are also linked with a £25m deal for the defender, who will leave Stamford Bridge for the right fee this summer.
Chelsea accept Burnley bid for Maatsen
15:32 , Dominic Booth
Chelsea have accepted an initial loan with obligation worth £31.5million from Burnley for defender Ian Maatsen.
The 21-year-old is reluctant to accept the move to his former loan club having made three appearances under Mauricio Pochettino this season.
Maatsen was more open to a move to West Ham but they have cooled their approach, with Aaron Cresswell now expected to stay.
He may yet choose to move on deadline day with competition from Marc Cucurella remaining after his loan move to Manchester United collapsed yesterday.
Maatsen also has renewed competition from new £40million signing Cole Palmer as he has played out of position in the front four under Pochettino.
As first revealed by Standard Sport, Chelsea want Maatsen to sign a new deal if he chooses to stay in west London.
Two Chelsea youngsters heading on loan
15:15 , Dominic Booth
Nizaar Kinsella reports here:
Chelsea defender Bashir Humphreys is set to join Swansea City on a season-long loan. The 20-year-old has had the move lined up for nearly a month but Mauricio Pochettino gave serious consideration to keeping him in his squad.
However, with players like Reece James soon returning from injury, it was deemed the best move for his development to send him on loan. Norwich City and Stoke City were both also keen on the defender, who has opted to join Michael Duff at the South Wales club.
And Chelsea striker Mason Burstow is set to join Sunderland on a season-long loan deal.
The 20-year-old makes the move after Chelsea added a further attacking option in Cole Palmer, signing him for £40million from Manchester City on deadline day. Burstow will continue his development in the Championship as he celebrates his first start for Chelsea in the 2-1 win over AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup.
Fulham fail in late bid for Wolves' Kalajdzic
15:08 , Dominic Booth
Fulham have failed with a late move for Wolves striker Sasa Kalajdzic.
Standard Sport understands Fulham and AC Milan and others enquired about 26-year-old’s availability in the final two weeks of the window, but Wolves insist he is not for sale as they see him as their main striker for the season.
Palace make approach for Ekitike
14:55 , Dominic Booth
Crystal Palace have made a loan offer with a £26million option to buy bid for PSG forward Hugo Ekitike, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
The Eagles are now considered frontrunners after Eintracht Frankfurt’s approach collapsed. West Ham are also interested but a stay at PSG isn’t discounted either at this stage.
‘Hint of panic about Bees swoop for Maupay'
14:44 , Dominic Booth
That move for Neal Maupay has a small hint of panic about it, writes Malik Ouzia, which is unusual for Brentford.
But I suppose a loan deal makes sense given the gap that needs plugging in terms of depth until Ivan Toney’s return. Mapuay is said to be very keen on the move, which is hardly surprising given Everton’s start to the season. You could argue that the Frenchman’s career has been on a gradual, and then steep, decline ever since he left Griffin Park.
Johnson for Spurs medical amid £45m deal
14:38 , Dominic Booth
Tottenham have agreed a £45million deal to sign Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.
Standard Sport understands the forward is now en route to undergo a medical.
Spurs had been locked in talks with Forest over the forward, with chairman Daniel Levy and Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis leading discussions and finally reaching an agreement with hours to spare ahead of today’s 11pm transfer deadline.
Liverpool news

Meanwhile, it’s widely reported that Al Ittihad are not giving up on Mo Salah, despite having an offer of more than £100m, plus add ons, rejected by the Anfield club. The Saudi club are said to be preparing a new offer worth more than £150m.

Gallagher and Hojbjerg deals in doubt
14:15 , Dominic Booth
Widepsread reports now suggestion Brennan Johnson’s prospective move to Tottenham is sealed – with the player reportedly pulled out of Nottingham Forest training and heading down to London for a medical.
Reports also claim that the Conor Gallagher transfer is dependent on whether they can sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – with Fulham and Atletico Madrid links played down regarding the Dane.
