Even Marvel star Tom Holland isn't immune to embarrassing social media content resurfacing.

Fans have unearthed a tweet from the Spider-Man: No Way Home actor dating back to December 2012. Four years before Holland donned the web-slinging superhero costume for the first time in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, the then 16-year-old posted a cute snap featuring a green and yellow parrot to his Twitter (now known as X) page.

A baby-faced Holland looks straight into the camera as the bird is comfortably perched on his shoulder. The caption makes it even more adorable, reading: "I'm a pirate arrrrrrr."

As Holland recently announced he has taken a break from acting following the tour de force that was his performance in AppleTV+'s The Crowded Room, it's understandable his fans are craving content. In one of X/Twitter's inexplicable cycles, the tweet went viral, with some making some light-hearted fun of Holland's antics.

"Me when I don't want to pay for a Netflix subscription just to watch 1 show," one fan captioned their retweet.

Someone else referred to it as "The only relevant tweet by Tom Holland," while another admitted: "I've thought about this tweet 3 times this week."

Back to the present, in June the actor admitted feeling a "little apprehensive" about a potential fourth Spider-Man outing.

"There's a bit of a stigma about the fourth one in all franchises," he told the Hollywood Reporter, revealing he'd had meetings with Marvel's big bosses.

"I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise and there's a part of me that wants to walk away with my head held high and pass the baton to the next lucky kid that gets to bring this character to life," he continued.

All Marvel projects are currently on hold, as are most other films and TV shows, amid the ongoing writers' and actors' strike, meaning that it may take a while before fans get to see Holland as Peter Parker again.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is available to buy now on Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store and other digital retailers.
