"You cannot be serious." The 80's was the era of McEnroe and with it came the on-court antics, the heated clashes with chair umpires and a variety of outbursts. Although at times the McEnroe show was a circus, you can't say it wasn't entertaining.
2/10
Marat Safin
Marat Safin defined to 2000's when it came to being tennis' bad boy. His on court expletive-laden explosions led to numerous fines, as did the many smashed raquets. Two things were guaranteed with Safin, on-court fireworks and a swag of supermodels in tow to watch him play.
3/10
Marcelo Rios
The volatile Chilean was a scintilating talent and also a polarising figure off the court when it came to his behaviour. A track record which includes refusing to sign autographs for kids and making disparaging comments about female players are amongst just a few. Sports Illustrated described him as "The most hated man in tennis."
4/10
Andre Agassi
He would become one of the true gentleman of tennis in his later years, but early days Agassi was one of tennis' great characters. He was a rebel in his youth, trying to upset the status quo as best he could, from the clothes, earrings and of course THAT wig. Agassi admitted to using drugs during his career, which he revealed in his autobiography, however from what was a shaky foundation, he managed to turn things around.
5/10
Jerzy Janowicz
Tennis has been waiting for years for its next bad boy and it looks as though Jerzy Janowicz fits the mould. The towering Pole has shown he is not afraid to let his feelings spill out onto the court, with countless angry exchanges with umpires.
6/10
Goran Ivanisevic
Goran Ivanisevic burst onto the scene as a the tempestuous 18-year-old with a brash attitude and a competitive spirit. His troubled days were more in his youth. At age 14 he was ejected from the semi-finals of the European junior championships after continued verbal and racquet abuse.
7/10
Yevgeny Kafelnikov
The firey Russian was at one point described by the British tennis magazine as the tour’s most miserable player, playing the role of the villain next to his charismatic countrymen Marat Safin.
8/10
Bernard Tomic
From a frosty relationship with the media, receiving numerous tickets for speeding around the Gold Coast in his BMW and partying it up at schoolies, it seemed Tomic was heading down a bad spiral. To his credit, he has gained a renewed focus and stayed out of trouble, letting his tennis do the talking.
9/10
Jimmy Connors
Connors gained as much attention for his emotional outbursts and antics on the court as he did for his breathtaking tennis. Along with countrymen John McEnroe, the pair redefined their era of American tennis, one full of characters, outbursts and showmanship.
10/10
Andy Roddick
All you have to do is type "Andy Roddick angry" into YouTube to see why he's on the list. The enigmatic American was somewhat of a second coming of McEnroe in the modern era. His conversational explosions with chair umpires were both frightening and entertaining.
