Berdych through to last 16 in Rotterdam

Former Rotterdam Open champion Tomas Berdych has booked his place in the second round of this year's tournament by beating Mischa Zverev 7-5 6-3.

Berdych, who won the title in 2014, recovered from a 3-5 first-set deficit to reach the next stage of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament.

Feliciano Lopez also reached the second round in Rotterdam with a 6-3 7-6 (7-4) victory over 2016 champion Martin Klizan.

Alexander Zverev took out David Ferrer 6-4 6-3 while Andreas Seppi made the most of his good fortune after slipping into the main draw as a "lucky loser".

Seppi had lost to Klizan on Sunday, but the Italian recovered from a second-set wobble against Joao Sousa to win 6-4 1-6 6-2.

Also in the main draw is reigning Australian Open champion and 20-time grand slam winner Roger Federer.
