Federer's awesome gesture for Cam Smith

One man happier than most about Roger Federer's 20th grand slam win was NRL star Cam Smith, who's shown off an amazing gift from the tennis legend.

Smith is somewhat of a Federer tragic and the fact has clearly not been lost on the Swiss maestro.

Federer wrapped up the Australian Open title after an epic five-set final against Marin Cilic at Melbourne Park to cement his reputation as one of the greatest players of all time.

The Storm, Maroons and Kangaroos skipper - as has become tradition - was in the stands again in 2018 to watch the Swiss on his historic journey.

Smith shared a picture to Instagram at this year's tournament captioned: "Hoping for another @RogerFederer title this year."

Not only did 34-year-old Smith get his wish with Australian Open title number six secured by Federer, he got more than he could have hoped for with a wonderful array of surprise gifts.

The league legend posted a photo of himself showing off the once-in-a-lifetime care package - as well as a smile that stretched from ear to ear.

Decked out in a signed hat and t-shirt bearing Federer's initials, Smith can be seen holding one of Federer's limited edition Nike shoes, specially designed by the Swiss for the 2018 tournament.

Smith was also an excited spectator at the epic 2017 final between Federer and Rafael Nadal, sharing a video of his delight at seeing both men in action.

With Federer suggesting he'd be back in 2019 to try and defend his title for a third straight year, you can bet Smith will probably be there front and centre to cheer him on.
