French star loses cool over missing drinks

A case of missing drinks left Frenchman Julien Benneteau fuming during his Australian Open loss against Fabio Fognini on Saturday.

Benneteau claimed the first set 6-2 against the 25th-seeded Italian but things started to go downhill for him at 4-1 down in the second, before he eventually lost in five sets.

The Frenchman was sitting down as he took a break from the Melbourne heat when it became clear he didn't know where his special drinks were.

"Where are my drinks?" Benneteau angrily asked the baffled chair umpire.

"I don't care, I don't play without my drinks. It's not my fault," he continued.

The chair umpire could be heard urging someone to find the Frenchman's drinks as the wait grew longer and the player's patience wore out.

"Can you please do something to find my drinks? Unbeleievable!"

Benneteau ended up losing the second set 6-2 before also conceding the third set 6-1 as the incident threatened to derail his tournament.

Fortunately for the Frenchman he managed to regroup to take the fourth set against the 25th seed and send the match into a deciding set.

However, Fognini found another gear in the fifth set as he rounded out a 3-6 6-2 6-1 4-6 6-3 victory to set up a fourth round clash with either Juan Martin del Potro or Tomas Berdych.

The missing drinks are the latest bizarre on-court mishap at this year's Australian Open.

Coco Vandeweghe was at the centre of arguably the weirdest incident over missing bananas in her upset defeat on Monday.

The American was slapped with a time violation in her shock loss to Tímea Babos after refusing to go back on court until she received a banana to eat.
