Channel 7 commentator Jim Courier threw Kyrgios under the bus when he revealed that the young Aussie had previously said he'd like Smith to play him in a movie.

Kyrgios then admitted he was extra nervous knowing the actor was watching on from the stands.

"When I saw him out here I was so nervous," Kyrgios said.

"People think I'm cool but I just wanted him to think I'm the coolest person ever."

Smith was in hysterics over Kyrgios's candid admission, before Kyrgios addressed Smith directly, telling him how much he loves his movie 'Focus'.

"I have it on my phone, I watch it every time I have a flight," Kyrgios said, before revealing his real motives.

"But it's because of [Australian actress} Margot Robbie."

Kyrgios was then lucky enough to meet his acting hero backstage, even getting a selfie with the great man.

Smith had earlier given a mid-match interview in which he provided a hilarious critique of Kyrgios's game.

"He has this little bow in his wrist (when holding his racquet), it looks like a power thing," Smith said with a smile.

"I don't know a lot about tennis but watching him makes me want to take it up a little bit."
