Edmund wins epic 20-minute game in 40-degree heat

After more than two and a half hours of play, Kyle Edmund raised his arms in triumph on Show Court 2 -- but he had not yet progressed to the fourth round of the Australian Open.

He was celebrating a single game in the fourth set.

Battling back to level his match with Nikoloz Basilashvili -- who led 6-7 (0-7) 6-3 6-4 -- at two sets apiece, Edmund's attempt to break his opponent lasted far longer than anyone hoped in the 40-degree temperatures of Melbourne Park.

The Briton Edmund fought back from 15-40 to force a deuce, and that's where the fun started.

First Basilashvili held the advantage, then he was pulled back and Edmund had his first break point.

The two then traded blows, with Edmund at one point missing three break opportunities in a row.

He eventually took the game on his eighth break point; in all, Basilashvili had blown eight chances to end the game.

And it got worse for the Georgian as Edmund rushed through the rest of the set and took it 6-0.

The winner will face Andrea Seppi or Ivo Karlovic in the fourth round.
