Furious Vandeweghe in bizarre blow-up over bananas

Coco Vandweghe has received one of the weirdest code violations in tennis history, all because of a banana.

The volatile American suffered a shock loss to Tímea Babos in the first round of the Australian Open on Monday, and she wasn't happy all throughout the match.

Vandeweghe had just lost the first set in a tiebreaker when she refused to take the court for the second.

As you can see in the video above, Vandeweghe was left fuming that she didn't have a banana waiting for her when she came off court.

"I'm waiting for the bananas," she told chair umpire Fergus Murphy when asked what she was doing.

"Why should I feel uncomfortable because the court is ill-prepared?"

Vandeweghe went on for about 60 seconds about why she couldn't continue without her potassium.

She eventually got her bananas and got back on court, but not before she received a code violation for time wasting.

And it didn't get much better from there, with the World No.9 receiving another code violation and point penalty in the second set.

Vandeweghe angrily smashed her racquet after missing a backhand, before reportedly levelling some shocking language at her opponent.

Murphy was forced to hit the American with a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Vandeweghe crashed out 6-7, 2-6, joining fellow American big guns Venus Williams and Sloane Stephens as shock losers.

Unfortunately it's not the first time we've Vandeweghe melt down on the court.

She's known for her racquet smashes and had a fairly big blow up at Wimbledon last year.
