Lleyton Hewitt making a comeback at Australian Open

Lleyton Hewitt is making a tennis comeback at this year’s Australian Open.

The former World No.1 will partner good friend Sam Groth in the doubles.

It is Groth’s final Australian Open, the big serving Aussie convincing Hewitt to join him in the Melbourne Park swansong.

Hewitt initially announced his retirement from tennis after the 2016 Australian Open but has been training hard and is in good nick ahead of the grand slam in January.

At 36 Hewitt is looking forward to stepping back out on court there.

“Yeah, it’s going to be a bit of fun,” said Hewitt.

“That’s what the Australian Open is about, it’s the happy slam.

“For me to be around there and going about it in a different way, I’m going to really enjoy it.”

And maybe they are a shot at making some inroads.

Groth certainly thinks so.

“I am out there hitting balls every day and we’re not just going out there to make up the numbers, we want to give it a good crack,” Groth said.

The Australian Open kicks off on January 15 and will be LIVE and FREE on the screens of Seven.
