Serena's awesome nod to Australia at wedding

Tennis superstar Serena Williams has paid a brilliant tribute to Australia at her star-studded wedding to Alexis Ohanian.

Around 200 guests were invited to the lavish nuptials in New Orleans on Friday, including fellow tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.

And in a stunning Aussie twist, it has been revealed that each of the guests' tables were named after the 23 grand slam titles Serena has won.

That means seven of the tables were named after the Australian Open.

Guests were also given replica grand slam trophies as presents, with many taking home a mini Australian Open trophy.

Australia holds a huge place in Serena's heart, with the 36-year-old recently revealing that her newborn daughter's name is also a touching nod to the land down under.

Williams gave birth to Alexis Olympia Ohanian on September 1 and was pregnant when she won her 23rd grand slam at the Australian Open in January.

In a series of tweets, Serena said the fact her baby shares her initials with the Melbourne event is no accident.

"I'm having a hard time posting about anything that does not involve Alexis Olympia or something to do with her," she confessed.

"Fun fact: My daughter's initials are AO as in the Aussie Open she won with me."

Serena is aiming to return to the WTA tour at the 2018 Australian Open, in what would be a lightning-fast recovery.

"Serena is already training in the gym to regain form slightly," the former World No.1's physical therapist, Ruben Mateu said recently.

"When someone's muscles are so well-developed, it is easier for them to recover because muscles have a memory. It is easier to achieve results with that kind of person," Mateu explained.

"The capacity for recovery will be faster for Serena than for any other sportswoman at her level."
