The Canadian's impressive victory was highlighted by an extraordinary piece of skill in the third set.

The Frenchman looked to have the point won with a cross-court backhand that landed in the corner of Shapovalov's baseline.

But the teenager somehow managed to reach the ball, twist his body around 360-degrees and return an unstoppable backhand winner.

Mannarino recognised the quality of the shot by giving Shapovalov a round of applause as the home crowd went wild for their newest hero.
