Haase gets a laugh out of Gasquet with impossible shot

Richard Gasquet could only smile after Robin Haase hit an amazing winner past the Frenchman in their Halle quarter-final overnight.

Gasquet led 2-0 in the first set when the third game began with a long rally that had Haase running all over the court.

A drop shot by Gasquet forced the right-handed Haase to sprint left, and with Gasquet in a solid position an attempted shot down the line might have seen Haase passed easily.

So what did the Dutchman do? Well, it's pretty hard to explain.

Shaping to lob it over the net with a soft backhand, Haase flipped his racquet and hit it across Gasquet.

Sure, the ball caught the cord and put it out of Gasquet's reach, but the wrist movement defied belief.

The Frenchman had the last laugh as he went on to beat Haase 6-1 3-6 6-1.

There must be something in the grass, because some of the shots seen this week have been unreal.
