Federer's massive Nadal prediction comes true

After beating him in the Miami Open final in April, Roger Federer made a big prediction about Rafael Nadal, and the Swiss Maestro was spot on.

Nadal produced a dominant display to overcome Stan Wawrinka in the French Open final on Sunday, finishing the tournament without dropping a set to become the first man to win 10 titles at the same grand slam in the Open Era.

ALL-TIME GREATS: Nadal passes Sampras, closes gap on Federer

The Spaniard's performance in Paris marks a magnificent return to form for Nadal following his struggles with injury over recent seasons.

His French Open triumph is his fourth title in as many tournaments after also winning in Rome, Madrid and Monte Carlo - all on clay.

And as it turns out, Federer predicted it all two months ago.

Following the Miami Open final in which Federer won his third title of the year, the Swiss great expressed his commiserations to Nadal after also beating him in the Australian Open final in January.

But as you can see in the video above, Federer told Nadal not to worry because the clay court season was coming up, and in Federer's words: "I'm sure you're going to tear it to pieces."

Eighteen-time grand slam winner Federer has won each of his last four meetings with Nadal, but concedes Nadal is the master of clay-court tennis.

"I wouldn't have beaten Rafael Nadal yesterday at Roland Garros. Not in the shape I would have performed on clay," he said.

"I told him on the court in Miami that he will destroy this season on clay. Luckily I was right for once. He played great.

"What Rafael achieved didn't surprise me at all, as he showed in Australia what is possible for him on clay.

"But that he ran through the tournament like this is absolutely gigantic."
