Coach reveals secret to Nadal's stunning resurgence

Rafael Nadal's coach has revealed the main reasons for his incredible resurgence after it looked like the Spanish great's best tennis was behind him.

Nadal endured an injury-plagued 2016 and many believed his career was on its last legs.

But the World No.4 has rediscovered his mojo and is favourite to win a record 10th French Open crown at Roland Garros.

Nadal stormed into the Australian Open final in January and lost an absolute classic against Roger Federer.

He also lost to Federer in the final of the Miami Open, before reeling off three-straight titles in Rome, Madrid and Monte Carlo.

And his coach Carlos Moya has opened up about how Nadal got back to his scintilating best.

"We are trying to work on getting more speed through the court," Moya told The Telegraph recently.

"Balls are different now, probably a bit heavier, so we have to adapt and try to do some damage in other ways.

"The backhand is much better than it used to be. And I told him in the beginning that we had to work a lot on the serve."

Moya also said Nadal's new racquet is a key factor, after he unsuccessfully switched from Babolat to Luxilon stringers in 2015.

"Rafa has put more lead tape in the head of the racket," Moya revealed.

"It was a great idea, which came from Toni before I got there. It brings him more power."

Nadal hasn't lost at the French Open so far this, and is on track to win the title without doing so, something he did in 2008 and 2010.

Only Bjorn Borg (1978 and 1980) and Ilie Nastase (1973) have also achieved that feat.

The Spaniard has also reached a record-equalling 11th Roland Garros quarter-final, matching Federer's mark for last-eight appearances in Paris.
