Fourlis goes down fighting against Wozniacki

Jaimee Fourlis has shone on her French Open debut but No.11 seed Caroline Wozniacki was too strong for the Australian teenager.

Wozniacki held off a fightback from the 17-year-old to win 6-4 3-6 6-2 in their first-round clash.

The world No.337 never looked overawed by the occasion on Court Suzanne Lenglen as she hit her shots to produce 11 winners in the first set, only to be undone by 24 unforced errors.

The Melburnian tightened her game up in the second set, however, and broke the former world No.1 twice.

The teenager's game faltered as the match went on and Wozniacki made the most of her chances.

The Dane won almost half of the points on Fourlis's serve to take the third set and the match in two hours and 14 minutes.

Elsewhere, Australian John Millman played out a bizarre four-set loss to No.17 seed Roberto Bautista Agut.

The Spaniard comfortably won the first two sets but produced a bagel in the third as Millman fought back.

Bautista then raced out of the blocks in the fourth set for a 6-2 6-2 0-6 6-1 victory.
