Bouchard reveals special gift from Twitter date

Tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has revealed the gift she received from Twitter fan John Goehrke ahead of their first date in New York.

Bouchard posted a video to Snapchat depicting her opening the box she received from the Patriots fan and pulling out the present (watch in the video above).

20-year-old student Goehrke later described the moment he met the tennis ace to Fox Sports US.

"She came down (from the hotel) and we met, I gave her a hug and said hi and gave the gift I had brought and then we walked out to the car and left for the game," he said.

Asked what the gift was, Goehrke replied: "Tiffany earrings."

"They had 'Tiffany New York' on them which I thought was a cool touch because we had our date in New York."

The pair then attended a basketball game in New York, before the tennis star told reporters of the special gift she'd received at the start of the night.

"He picked me up at my hotel like a gentleman and we came over here (to the NBA). He got me a nice little gift, we enjoyed the game courtside," she told TMZ.

The gift must have worked. Asked if there would be a second date, Bouchard didn't hesitate for one second in answering.

"For sure," Bouchard said, nodding her head.

"Yeah," added John.

The whole saga kicked off when Bouchard tweeted during the Super Bowl that she knew the Falcons would win.

The fan responded to her by writing "if patriots win we go on a date?" and she responded "Sure."

The Falcons then blew a 25-point lead as the Patriots rallied to win in overtime.

Bouchard agreed to keep her word.

Bouchard was asked at half time how the date was going.

"It's going great, he's normal!" she said.

"I was a little bit worried because I didn't even know what he looks like but he's awesome."

As for John, he couldn't believe his luck.

"I thought maybe there was a chance she would respond, but I thought there was no chance she'd actually agree to it," Goehrke said.

Earlier in the week Bouchard was one of a number of tennis stars including Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki to grace the pages of the 2017 edition of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue.
