Women's doubles finalist in bizarre rant at big screen

Czech tennis player Andrea Hlavackova was slammed by commentators for criticising the Rod Laver Arena big screen during her loss in the women's doubles final.

Hlavackova and partner Peng Shuai were taking on Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova in Friday's final when Hlavackova took exception to the big screen, launching a bizarre rant at the chair umpire about it.

"They keep switching it during my stroke," she complained early in the second set.

Channel 7 commentator Rennae Stubbs was sitting courtside and believed the big screen was operating as it had been the entire tournament.

"It wasn't an issue during the first set tie-breaker (which she won)," fellow commentator Sam Smith said.

"It's amazing when she won the first set how she didn't say a word to the umpire," Stubbs added.

"But now that she's down 3-0...ridiculous."

Hlavackova then (accidentally) took her frustration out on a court-side camera the very next game:

Mattek-Sands and Safarova went on to claim the championship with a 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 victory, a second Australian Open and fourth grand slam title for the American and Czech pairing.

And boy did they celebrate in style!
