Dan Evans reveals massive Kevin Pietersen snub

Bernard Tomic's conqueror Dan Evans has revealed it's not only his sponsors snubbing him at the Australian Open.

After his victory on Friday night, the rising British tennis star opened up about being fresh-aired by none other than Kevin Pietersen early in the tournament.

Evans said he had "serious rage" after his request for a picture with Pietersen, who was his favourite cricketer, was flatly denied.

"I mean, he wasn't even, like, getting hassled or anything. He was just with three friends. There was, like, no one around him. I'd get it if everyone was asking him.

"He didn't want me to have my picture with him. That was it. I think he was worse for wear.

Evans said the two athletes were walking towards each other after Evans had stepped out of a Melbourne restaurant.

"That was his excuse when he replied. Quite funny, isn't it, how things work out. He was my favourite cricketer until that point, genuinely was.

"But there was some serious rage for about 20 minutes after that happened. Yeah, it was a bad moment that was. It was so embarrassing, as well. He didn't even just say, no. He handed me off, as well."

Before his match with Tomic, the world No.67 revealed he'd been dropped by his sponsors Nike and had to buy his own clothes for the Australian Open.

"I'm just out of contract with Nike," the 26-year-old said before the match.

"They didn't offer me another contract. I just went to the store and bought a load of clothes the other day, plain clothes," Evans said.

"Aus $19.99, the shirts are," he said, adding that he "didn't look" how much his shorts cost.
