Rafa, Serena and Dasha to sparkle on Thursday night

Fourteen-time Grand Slam title winner Rafael Nadal will flex his muscle against crowd favourite Marcos Baghdatis on Channel 7 and the 7Tennis app Thursday night.

Nadal enjoys an 8-1 win-loss record over the Cypriot, but Baghdatis always brings a bundle of energy to Melbourne Park with a spirited local fan base behind him.

After 6.30pm AEDT, Aussie Daria Gavrilova takes on Croatian Ana Konjuh for a coveted spot in the third round. Then after his first round heroics, rising Aussie star Jordan Thompson takes on eighth seed Dominic Thiem.

Six-time Australian Open winner Serena Williams also graces Rod Laver Arena against Czech Lucie Safarova.

Late afternoon world no. 2 Novak Djokovic battles Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin. The Serb holds a perfect 5-0 record against Istomin, including a straight sets victory when they played at the 2014 Australian Open.

After 4pm AEDT, young Aussie Andrew Whittington takes on 20th seed Ivo Karlovic. The Croat will be backing up after a marathon first round clash that ended 22-20 in the fifth set.
