With the second set on serve in the sixth game, however, Giraldo was deemed to have touched the net.

"What can I do? The point is in play, you touch the singles stick, you lose the point," the umpire told Giraldo.

Soon after, Giraldo was serving to save two break and set points but hit the ball into the net to level the match up for Granollers.

Granollers would go on to win 6-7 7-5 6-3, setting up a clash with British player Daniel Evans.

At least Giraldo was able to control his aggression, unlike Coco 'loco' Vandeweghe.
