Kim Sears 'swears at Berdych' as Murray makes final

Andy Murray's fiancee Kim Sears was the talk of the internet while watching the Scot defeat Tomas Berdych to reach the Australian Open final.

In what was an engrossing encounter, the TV cameras alighted on Sears during a particularly intense moment: Murray was down 5-4 in the first set, which he would go on to lose in a tie-break.

And amateur lip readers up and down the country were quickly accusing Sears of turning the air blue with what appeared to be a very rude outburst. Was she swearing at Berdych? Or the situation?

Now, we can’t be certain, but looking at the footage it appears she says something along the lines of: ‘F****** have that you Czech f***ing f***’.

Some described it as 'shocking', while others thought it was understandable given the tension and importance of the match - but either way, it was certainly something out of the ordinary.

The fact is, tennis fans are used to seeing the usually calm and placid Sears smiling and looking relaxed while supporting her man - so this really was quite the surprise.

As a result of fans not expecting this kind of reaction from Murray's fiancee, the above video of her behaviour has now gone viral after the day's play in Melbourne.

While others found it endearing that the soon to be Mrs Murray could not restrain herself from lobbing a few choice words in the direction of the opponent.

But Sears also attracted some stern criticism for the words she is alleged to have used.

Murray himself defended Sears following the match, saying the tension of the moment was to blame.

"In the heat of the moment you can say stuff that you regret," he said.

When asked about the incident after the match he said: "I was told about that."

"Again, when there's a lot of tension surrounding something, which you (the media) created, then it's completely normal.

“The whole first set everyone was tight. My physical trainer, physio, I’m sure for Dani it was uncomfortable.

“Even Tomas, who very rarely says anything on the court, there was tension there for him, as well.

"Yeah, in the heat of the moment you can say stuff that you regret. That's it."
