Victoria Azarenka has the chance to win consecutive Australian Open titles after beating teen Sloane Stephens and moving into the final.

Stephens came into the semi final as a star on the rise having beaten her idol Serena Williams yesterday.

But in sweltering conditions the world No.1 proved too good for the young American, taking the match in straight sets, 6-1 6-4.

The defending champion breezed through the first set but had a lot of trouble sealing it in the second.

She served for the match at 5-3 and had five match points but could not put them away with Stephens breaking.

Azarenka was then forced to take a medical timeout for a back issue but came back moving freely.

She immediately broke Stephens to take the set and the match.

The Belarusian plays Li Na in the decider on Saturday night after the Chinese star accounted for Maria Sharapova earlier in the day.

More to come.
