The Spaniard has sparked a buzz at the tournament as he looks to start off his hard court campaign in style ahead of the US Open.

But, new to the city, fans pointed out Nadal may have thought he was somewhere else when tagging his location on social media.

Nadal went for a bike ride around Washington D.C. and posted a number of photos on social media to commemorate his first time in the US capital.

The Spaniard posted a photo of the Capitol Building with the caption: "Hi DC, first time here and loving it."

But, Nadal appeared to get mixed up and tagged the White House in his post.

Fans couldn't help but point out Nadal's gaffe on social media.

And in good humour, Nadal responded to a number of them.

When one follower reminded Nadal that the building was the Capitol, not the home of the US president, Nadal sheepishly responded: "Yes, it is."
