Bears RB Tarik Cohen tore ACL in win against Falcons

The Chicago Bears’ ground game may be in trouble.

Bears running back Tarik Cohen tore his ACL in their wild 30-26 comeback win against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon, coach Matt Nagy said after the game.

“It looks like he did end up tearing his ACL,” Nagy said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. “That’ll be a big blow for us.”

Cohen went down in the fourth quarter while attempting to call a fair catch on a punt return. As he caught the ball and took a step with his right foot, Falcons running back Brian Hill collided awkwardly into Cohen’s leg, which drew a penalty.

Cohen was helped off the field and eventually carted to the locker rooms at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and did not return. He finished with 21 rushing yards on two carries and had 20 receiving yards on three receptions in the win.

The 25-year-old signed a three-year extension with the Bears just eight days ago, one that could be worth up to $18.25 million. Cohen, who the Bears picked up in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL draft, will end his year with 74 rushing yards on 14 carries.

“He’s trying to keep his spirits up,” Nagy said, via 670TheScore’s Mark Grote. “He’s such a special player for us. We’ll keep his spirits up.”
