Taggart through to Paralympics boccia semi-finals
Claire Taggart from Northern Ireland has advanced to the semi-finals of the BC2 women's individual boccia competition at the Paralympics in Paris by defeating Hiu Lam Yeung of Hong Kong 3-2 in her quarter-final on Saturday.
The Great Britain competitor was 2-1 down after two ends but in a tight contest won the third and fourth ends 1-0 to take victory.
The Larne woman will face Soyeong Jeong of South Korea in her semi-final at 10:55 BST on Sunday, with the final scheduled for 18:35.
Taggart made the last eight by finishing second in her pool, beating Ecuador's Joselyn Leon 10-1 in her opener on Thursday and then losing 4-3 to Cristina Goncalves of Portugal on Friday.
The 29-year-old first competed at Rio in 2016 and is now a three-time Paralympian.
In 2022, she secured two gold medals at the Boccia World Cup in Portugal and later the same year clinched gold at the Boccia World Championships in Rio.
Also on Saturday, the GB women's wheelchair basketball team lost 63-54 to Canada in their second group A game. Katie Morrow from Northern Ireland did not play.
