One day after re-signing Alex Wilkinson, Sydney FC have farewelled two other senior defenders, former Socceroo Luke Wilkshire and Dutchman Jordy Buijs.
In a statement, the Sky Blues said Buijs, who made his debut for the club on Australia Day 2017, would return to the Netherlands after one and a half seasons with Sydney.
They also said 36-year-old Wilkshire was leaving to pursue other opportunities after one season in their ranks.
Meanwhile losing A-League grand finalists Newcastle Jets signed New Zealand international midfielder Matthew Ridenton from Wellington Phoenix.
Ridenton, 22, who was Phoenix's under 23 player of the year, has signed a two-year deal and will reunite with his former Wellington coach Ernie Merrick, who is now mentoring Newcastle.
Rounding off a busy day for NSW A-League clubs, following Western Sydney's signing of Tarek Elrich, Central Coast Mariners announced that defender Kye Rowles and forward Connor Pain both inked one-year contract extensions.
