Swansea City’s Carlos Carvalhal has singled out Jordan Ayew for praise after putting in another impressive display on Wednesday night.

The forward scored the opening goal in their 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in an FA Cup third round replay.

Diogo Jota levelled proceedings for the Championship side but Wilfried Bony’s 69th-minute effort ensured that the Liberty Stadium outfit progressed to the fourth round of the competition.

Impressed by the work rate of the former Aston Villa player, the gaffer has applauded him for his contribution to the team in their last two games.

“I am very happy because Jordan deserves it,” Carvalhal told club website.

“He scored against Newcastle and again tonight. I am happy because he is a fighter – he works very hard for the team.

“He ran a lot tonight, even at the end when he was tired I think.

“I like players like that – who have quality but first of all they think of the team. I am very happy to see him score a goal like that.”

Ayew will be hoping to continue with his fine display when Swansea face Liverpool on Monday in a league tie.
